I can scroll backwards by using the left side button, but the right button does not seem to scroll past the first 11.

Look at the top of the strip of thumbnails, towards the center of the page. You should see an up/down arrow there. Grab it and drag it up. You should see more thumbnails revealed, but, what's more important, you should see a scroll-bar show up on the right of the thumbnails viewer. You should then be able to scroll to any thumbnail in the list.
