Does anyone have any experience with the Boltwood Portable Cloud Sensor? I have a roll off roof in the back yard and I have to manually close the roof, so I don't need the software automation capability of the permanant cloud sensor unit that works with CCDAP. I just need an alarm if bad weather is developing. The portable unit is supposed to use the same method to dectect clouds, so I assume it is just as effective? I am also assuming that it will see clouds before it rains, so the rain sensor seems redundant for my purposes. How long is the cord from the sensor head to the control box? Are the batteries in the unit standard replaceable cells?

Hi Kirk,
You may want to post your query on the Maxim Yahoo group. Any portable cloud sensor users are likely to be hanging out there. BTW, there is another cloud sensor coming out shortly. Called the CloudWatcher 2, it was designed by Antonio Gomez and is distributed by Technical Innovations, http://www.homedome.com John CCDAutoPilot author |
