Poor Seeing
Posted
Hi
I successfully set up CCDAP v3 and was trying to set the meridian flip routine, However, the setup showed I was WEST of the meridian when I clearly was not. How does CCDAP know where the meridian is, from the SKY? Should I turn off the T-Point model. Plate solving imaging and tracking are all OK so all I need to do is "Educate" CCDAP as to where the scope is pointing. Any ideas?

Hi Joel,

The coordinates of your plate solve tell CCDAP where the telescope is pointing, with the qualification of the telescope accurately aligned with accurate time. Your location (Lat/Long) in TheSky6 needs to be correct as well as your time zone. What was the indicator that you used to determine that the telescope wasn't on the correct side of the meridian?
TPoint corrects pointing based on the accuracy of the model you built and the accuracy of the sync that started the model. Do you have a log you can post that show what you are experiencing?

Hi Frank
Thanks for the rapid reply. As far as I recall the location appeared in a dialogue box on the right side after I began my run. The TPoint model seemed to be OK since I was able to slew to my targets without incident. I did however not go through my usual startup of using ImageLink to download an image from MaxIm to the Sky6 at the outset of my session. Is this necessary to sync such an image everytime I start the Sky? I hve attached my log file in case something is there I missed.

Thanks very much

Joel

Hi Joel,

Depending on your mount's capabilities and how it interacts with TheSky6, it may be necessary to sync the mount and TheSky6 at each startup so the correct coordinates are available to CCDAP. Also, with all the changes in Maxim from Version 4 to 5, I would recommend you consider upgrading CCDAP to version 4. There are many additional and useful features John has added to version 4 and this is also the version that is currently supported.
