Hi John,

I am experiencing a problem with the position angle of targets not updating properly. For example, if I choose M81 as a target in the Sky 6 and set a position angle of, say 45, that PA is not reflected in CCDAP when using the get command. Moreover, if I stay on that target and change the PA to say 270, the PA is not updated in CCDAP using the get command again. The PA remans the same in CCDAP's target list regardless of how I have changed it in the Sky.

I am using Ver 6.0.0.58 of the Sky 6 Professional as well as Ver 3.42.4 of CCDAP Professional. I believe these are the most recent versions of both of these.

Any help in troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea where to begin. I would point out that I am using a TAKometer and it is working fine.

Regards,
Mike O'Connor

Hi Mike,

How are you changing the PA in TheSky6 before you use the "Get" function? Can you post a log file with that issue? Do you have the "server" set up in TheSky6 ?

Hi Frank,
I'm in the middle of an imaging run at the moment so I can't get you a log. However, I can verify that I change the PA in the Sky 6 before using the Get function. As an example, I will choose a target, set the position angle in the Sky, issue the get command and a PA (eg. .4) will be shown in the target list. I then change the PA of the same taget to a different angle, say 45 degrees from the original, and then issue the get command. Despite a 45 degree difference, the PA reflected in the target list remains the same.

Lastly, yes, the server is setup in the Sky.

I have not had this problem in the past using this same equipment. I have not made any changes to my setup that I can think of that would have any bearing on this issue. I would also note that this occurs even when I am I connect in "plan only" mode.

Mike,

I am unable to duplicate your problem. See the attached screen captures. As you can see, subsequent "Gets" to the same target with differrent FOV PA's work fine. Make sure you don't have more than one FOV active in TheSky. If that isn't the issue, try creating a new profile.

Hi John,

Single FOV active. I deleted all old profiles and created a new one. The problem is still present. This did not happen previously. I have a few cloudy nights coming up so I will trouble shoot it further.

Regards,
Mike

Hi John,
I have been super busy and just had a chance to track down and resolve this issue. I wanted to post my findings in case someone runs into the same problem down the line.
I am using a TAKometer for a rotator which I had previously calibrated and used successfully with CCDAP. Although the PA was not being updated in CCDAP as described above, the rotator would successfully rotate 180 degrees during a meridian flip.
As it turns out, after recalibrating the TAKometer and resetting the zero and -180 positions the PAs are properly updated between the Sky 6 and CCDAP. All works just fine fine now.
Best,
Mike O'Connor
