I am new to CCDAPP, and I'm using the professional version. As usual, I have a problem on the settings page, likely pilot error, mine, not the program's!

I completed the info on the settings page, and saved the profile as "C-14". When I exit the program and restart it, the systems page does not remember my focuser software (Focusmax) or rotator software (Takometer). It shows "none" for these values even though I entered them and saved them to the system profile file. This doesn't make sense to me, so what am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hi Gary,

What OS are you using? Also, do you have any registry monitoring or "cleaning" software installed? CCDAP must write some data to the registry to record settings information.

Hi John!

I'm running Windows XP, and have no registry cleaning or monitoring software other than whatever may be resident with the standard Windows XP.

Hi John,

I'm not at home now so I can't look it up for sure, but I was running the standard version until your Christmas special, when I upgraded to the Professional version in December. I'll check tonight when I get home and let you know if this is not "close enough"! By the way, it stores the system profile under the name I gave it to save as, it's just that the noted fields aren't being remembered. I'll likely end up with 2 profiles, 1 for my C-14 and 1 for my 130 APO.

Thanks!

Gary

After you make the focuser and rotator selection, are you hitting the Connect button? You must do this to save the selections.

Also, there is only one save location (the registry) for these selections. When you go from the C-14 to the 130, you will need to reset them as appropriate.

AHA! I was trying to set it up "dry" so to speak, with nothing connected. This may be the problem. Will it save when I hit "connect" if no equipment is connected or do I have to connect all the equipment to save? I'll bet you never bargained for helping all us newbys over such simple humps when you got into this business, but I'm sure glad you did!

No problem, Gary Wink

You either have to have your equipment connected or select simulators for everything. The walkthrough describes how to use simulators. Practically speaking, it is a matter of seconds to set it up with your equipment present. Just connect all your equipment first and then start CCDAP.
