I seem to recall that CCDAP does a guider calibration as part of its initialization. Lately though it just does a guider exposure and then says it's all done and would I like to save the profile. Has something changed or has my memory completely gone?

This is happening with 3.30.5 and 3.30.7. Note that if I hit the initialize button enough times, it will sometimes actually do the calibration, but tonight it doesn't seem to want to do even that.

MaximDL 4.56, Pinpoint, GSC11 catalog, TheSky6 6.0.0.51, CCDAP 3.30.5 (or 3.30.7).

I tried trashing the System Profiles directory and restarting. No difference in behavior.

Thanx,

Paul Howard

I went back to 3.19 tonight and it does appear to consistently do a guider calibration.

Hi Paul,

I'm running 3.30.7 and I re-initialized last night and the guider calibrated as expected. Did you possibly have "unguided" selected when you loaded 3.30.7?

Frank,

No. Self-guided was configured.

Thanx,

Paul

Hi Paul,

When you first started CCDAP3 (ver 3.30.7) up, did you do a manual calibration of the guider that completed successfully? If you did, then you might try to upgrade to Maxim 4.57. I use CCDSoft and and older ver of Maxim (4.11)

Hi Paul,

I don't think 4.57 will help with this - all my testing has been with 4.56. Strangely enough, the guider calibration code for Maxim hasn't changed between 3.19 and 3.30 - the only change has been in the Microsoft .NET framework.

What kind of camera/guider are you using? What is the PC speed and OS? You may want to try removing and reinstalling .NET 2.0, since that is the only change I can see.

John,

I'm using an SBIG ST10-XME with the internal guider. PC OS is XP Pro running at 1.6GHz.

I'll try doing the uninstall/re-install of .NET 2.0...it will be a while before I can check it due to the weather around here. What is the best source for re-installing .NET 2.0?

Thanx,

Paul Howard

I am also experiencing the same problem. Not sure whaich verison I was using previously, haven't been able to get out for a month or so (weather), but when I did my run last night, the new version installed. I initialized as usual and it did the same, took a picture and then asked to save the profile...

The computer I use for the observatory hasn't been updated for a while since I only fire it up when imaging.

Needless to say, It ruined my images from last night becouse of tracking errors while I was in bed...

Paul,

Here is the link to .NET 2.0 from the CCDWare web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyI...e04f5&displaylang=en
You should uninstall it via add/remove programs.

I wouldn't expect your PC to be the source of the problem.

John,

Thanx. Is there any debug data you want me to gather should this continue after the re-install of .Net 2.0?

Yes, Maxim is my camera software.
I have however gotten it to work. I do not know if this helps but I changed the dither from 0.0 (turned off) to .5 for max dither. Then I ran the initialize and it worked properly. This is when it started working. I had tried to use it without the guiding feature, but it turned off my guider and never restarted it. This is why it ruineed my photos last night after it rand the luminance series and went to the red series it stopped the guider and never restarted it.

Hi,
I've not resolved this issue either (but have not had the weather to test). I posted on this issue in late Dec. : http://ccdware.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1141040351/m/3581004302

Scott,

Did you try the special build I sent you in late December? What were the results? Did you ever try CCDSoft? Did you ever try a session? If so, please post a log file, even from a failes session, if you are still having problems.
