I have a Proline camera(imager) and SBIG 402(OAG guide camera) mounted behind a 3 inch Pyxis rotator. I have used the system without CCDAP3 for at least a year with no problems. The Pyxis control program works fine. I opened CCDAP and it will not connect to the pyxis. The settings are not changed and the pyxis software is off. The Sbig 402 is plugged into the usb hub on the Proline and the proline is plugged into another usb hub. The sbig 402 is not being found sometimes also and I am having to unhook the camera and load the drivers again. All of these problems are new since trying to connect with CCDAP. I can't get the pyxis to connect to it's native control program now either. I will try to reinstall it tomorrow.

Hi Kirk,
Connections to the Pyxis have been reliable with other customers. Hubs have been known to cause problems in the past. I assume you are using a USB-serial converter. To eliminate the problems, try connecting both the USB-serial converter and the ST-402 directly to the USB port on your PC. Make sure your SBIG drivers are up to date. Then add hubs one at a time until you identify the problem. What USB-serial converter are you using? Some are more reliable than others. John CCDAutoPilot author |

John,
The serial usb converter is model # U232-P9 from pfranc.com. I have one on the JMI focuser and one on the Pyxis. Now the pyxis is connecting to CCDAP though the hub, but my ST402 is not showing up on hardware list in the device mgr. If I hook the sbig guider directly to the computer, it comes up as a new device, I reload the drivers and it works fine. But when I move the sbig back to the hub that is was routed to before, it won't come up on the hardware list. How do I move it back to the hub where it worked fine before? |

I have everything working now. I tried switching the plugs on the usb hub on the camera and everything works now. It apparently has to be hooked up in the same usb port as before or it is not happy.

Kirk,
As you have probably surmised, this is a Windows operational variability you are dealing with. I have seen situations where a system of hubs, cameras, focusers and rotators work fine on one system and not on another. When it doesn't work, a rearrangement of USB ports usually gets it going. I suspect it has to do with how the motherboard creates the many USB ports that some systems have. John CCDAutoPilot author |
