I have a 2 inch Pyxis and an AO-8. The guide star I select in the sky by rotating the FOV is hardly ever on the guide ch ip when I Get the target and perform a Run. I discovered that the rotator is not rotating to the proper position. Sometimes it is almost 90o off. Is there something systematic I am forgetting to do?
My second question regards the statement on the Optec site about the Pyxis and CCDAP wh ich I copy below: "CCDAutoPilot 3.0 supports manual and automatic control of the Optec Pyxis rotator. Rotate your FOV indicator in TheSky6, right click on your target and select slew. You rotator will now rotate to the precise Position Angle in the sky." I tried this and the Pyxis does not rotate. ? Hi Larry,
Do you have the parameter "Precision Slew to Target" on the Targets tab checked ? Also, on the same tab, when you connect to all your equipment, does the "position" box in the Rotator Control section show the correct PA ? If you change that number to say "0", does your Pyxis go to the "0" position? Try setting it to "0" then 90, 180, 270, and watch you rotator. Is it going to the selected position? Does your Pyxis have the larger motor installed to handle the heavier cameras (since you are using a AO-8, you have extra weight) as it sounds like it might be slipping. I had to get the motor upgrade to handle my STL-6303 as it would slip under that much weight. Best thing I can suggest is to watch what is happening so you can rule out things one at a time. Good luck..... HTH |
