Hi John,
Within the last few weeks, on several occasions, I have had my CCDAP (v3.42.7) program freeze about 1/2 way into the run. It doesn't happen every time. When it does freeze, I get an error message in the log, but not on the screen, that reads, "CM1:Microsoft.visualbasic: object reference not set to an instance of an object" Not only does the program freeze, but the desktop is frozen as well and I have to manually shut down the computer in order to gain control again. Have you seen this before? Any thoughts? (see attached log) Thanks for your help, Kent ccdap20081021_200207.log (20 KB, 81 downloads) 10,21,08 log |

Hi Kent,
This error occured just after a failure inside FocusMax. This may be part of the issue. Take a look at the FocusMax log that corresponds to the time period of the CCDAP3 log and see if it contains any information about the failure. When I have seen this happen before, the link between FocusMax and the focuser has experienced a problem (usually communications) and that prevents the focuser from sending the feedback FocusMax needs to complete the focusing cycle. I would double check all the connection to the Optec focuser and try and manually exercise it to make sure it it working across its full range. HTH .... |

Hi Frank,
Good idea. I'll check the connections as well as the focuser. Thanks for taking the time to help. Kent |
