Is there a way that I can use Starry Night (Via Ascom)insted of The Sky6 for Telescope control?. I use Pinpoint full version so I do not use Image Link for Plate solves. Perhaps there are some issues with SN I am not aware of.
Thank You Adrien Richardson |

Hi Adrien,
AFAIK, Starry Night does not have a suitable automation interface that supports the complete suite of facilities that TheSky does for target framing and selection. Of course you can use an ASCOM hub (e.g. POTH) to go between SN and your telescope. Then in CCDAP, select ASCOM for telescope control and select POTH from the chooser menu. That way both SN and CCDAP can control telescope slewing, parking etc. Of course, target information (RA, Dec. PA) would have to be entered manually. BTW, whether or not PinPoint is used is immaterial to the selection of telescope control program. For plate solving, your options are CCCDSoft/TheSky or PinPoint. For example, you can TheSky or ASCOM for telescope control independent of your choice of plate solving method. John CCDAutoPilot author |
