Hello, I am new and I'm testing CCDAP with simulators (MaxIm, The Sky, Focusmax. In the Tracking&Guiding tab I do not see anything about guider calibration. So I suppose I have to calibrate the autoguider before running CCDAP and than it recognizes if calibration was performed on E or W of the meridian. Is it right?
In simulated session the pointing cirson in the Sky does not move during slew. Is it normal? Thanks and best MB |

Hi MB,
The guider calibration is done from the Setting tab. When connected to the "telescope", CCDAP3 knows which side of the meridian initialization was performed on. When running live, you would start CCDAP3 and connect to all your equipment. Then you would do a manual calibration of the guider to make sure that it will complete successfully. Then from the Settings tab with all your parameters setup accordingly (make sure you have the correct guider selected), you would click on the "Initilize" button. CCDAP3 will perform a plate solve to get your actual plate scale and then it will calibrate the guider based on your setup parameters in the camera control software and the Position angle (PA) of your camera determined from the plate solve. If successful, CDAP3 is then ready to acquire targets you setup. Not sure about the crosshairs. They should work if you are connected to the "Simulator telescope" in TheSky6. HTH .... |

Frank, thanks for your help.
I understand it's important to run CCDAP on the field. the "initialize" button is not active with simulators. Regardig the crosshair simulator was setted also in the Sky. I will feedbavk you when will test CCDAP on the field. Thanks Massimo |
