I'm 99% sure this one is a user error, but it sure has me stumped. Last night 4 CCDAP 4 sessions aborted because of the subject error message. Always on the first real light frame of the imaging run. Initalization, synching, platesolving, guiding all work fine...then when the first image is done and downloading seems to be complete (a download time in seconds is given)...boom.
I'm using Maxim 4.6X. The only changes I made to my apps is that I installed the latest CCDAP maint. release, and the latest TheSky maint release. BTW I tried switching to Maxim 5.X, and CCDAP constantly said FocusMax couldn't be found. But that's another story. I'll post a log later. But the CCDAP4 error is just as I described. John |

Hi John,
There are a number of things that can trigger a message like that. I have an autobackup system that runs on my observatory computer. When it sees something new or something change, it sends the data to my Network storage server. It does it so quick that it can have access to the file when one of the programs running under CCDAP4 needs it and I get basically the same message. I normally turn off the backup before starting a night's session, but sometimes I forget. Some things to check for would be a special character that may have been typed into the file path or name, and making sure the location is actually a valid one where the image is being saved. |

Thank you sir.
The problems I induce with CCDAP are the toughest to figure out Its a cloudy night, so I will use it to try a few thiing. In the meantime here is the log file. John ccdap20080914_213636.log (9 Kb, 29 downloads) |

Hi John,
Unfortunately, Maxim merely says it couldn't save the file but it doesn't say why. Look for some of the things Frank suggested. Make sure there is only one MaximDL.exe running in Windows task manager. John CCDAutoPilot author |

John:
I had a very similar problem with similar symptoms, and it turned out that the file path and name were too long for windows. Looking at your log file, you have a pretty long path name and file name. See my thread on unable to save file. Best Regards, Arlo |

Thanks Arlo,
I got this fixed. One of the things I did was use a directory right of the root of my C drive. Just called "images. All fine now. John |
