John,

I have an AP 900GTO mount which can continue tracking well past the meridian. What settings do I need to adjust in order to delay the meridian flip 90 minutes? I've played around with the Flip Delay and Meridian Tracking; however, I seem to be getting inconsistent results. For example, I had Flip Delay set to 4 and Meridian Tracking set to 60. The mount flipped just after the Flip Delay expired. Once this happened, I just turned Enable Meridian Flip off. Basically, all I want to do is force the mount to continue tracking 90 minutes after the meridian before a flip occurs.

Thanks,

Wade

Hi Wade,

My understanding is that the "Meridian Tracking" parameter is suppose to override the "Flip Delay" parameter, so setting the Flip Delay to 1 and the Meridian Tracking to 90 should allow your mount to track past the meridian by 90 min. What camera control program are you using and what form of guiding?

Frank,

I use Maxim DL v5.07. I guide through a guide scope using Maxim DL too. I'll run some tests the next time it is clear to verify the behavior. I'm almost positive that it flipped the last time after meeting the Flip Delay requirement rather than the Meridian Tracking requirement. I will let you know what I find out.

Hi Wade,

Are you using camera relays for guiding, or Maxim's "Microguide" ?

Hi Wade,

Try setting Flip Delay to 1 and Meridian tracking to 90. As long as nothing causes the mount to slew, even to the same target, the mount should track through the meridian for 90 minutes.

However, and this is why Frank asked about MicroGuide, any slew commands may cause a meridian flip, depending on the mount controller and its firmware.
