Poor Seeing |
Ray, I did not see the arrow with circle when trying to improve azimuth axis step 6 out of 9 as shown on page 185 of PDF manual. Instead there is is redline pointing to the star without arrow head and circle on reference image and I tried to shift the star from the current images taken later on to the tip of the red line as close as I could by moving azimuth knob of the AP 1200 mount. Which knob does counter clock wise west correction. The right side knob when facing south in front of AP mount. thanks for your help. Mahesh Yadav

Hello Mahesh,
If you don't see the arrowhead then it is off the screen. Try using the graph instead to adjust the mount. When you are standing directly in front of the knobs (the side with the counterweights - facing south in the northern hemisphere): 1. Tightening the left knob will rotate the mount clockwise. 2. Tightening the right knob will rotate the mount counterclockwise. -Ray Author of PEMPro |

I have sortof the same issue. However with mine, the Altitude line AND arrow never show up on step 9. There is no indication which way or how much to adjust. So I use a combination of both the Az adjustment (not only do I move the star left/right to fit in the circle, but I also move it up/down). I also use the graph on the Alt step to get it closer.
What are the reasons that the overlay image on step 9 would not show up at all? I can send a screen shot if needed. Roy |

Hi Roy,
Have you tried clicking the "Overlay Color" button and checking that the color is something visible and that the transparancy setting is not set incorrectly? -Ray Author of PEMPro ![]() |

I'll double check the overlay color, but as I said, the Az adjustment is visible, just not the Alt.
I'll double check tonight to make sure. Roy |

Nope.. Tried it last night... The overlay color or transparency has no effect.

Roy,
Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing. What kind of camera, PC (including screen resolution), and operating system are you using? -Ray Author of PEMPro |

I had a screen shot ready, but can't find it, so will have to setup and take another. Basically it was on step 9 .. no circle or arrow could be seen.
This was done on my CPC800 using MaxIM DL connected to a Starshoot AutoGuider camera. I was running Windows XP at 1280x800 (max resolution of my laptop). Roy |

LOL! Yea, it's very windy here in Northern California. I'll be at AIC Friday through Sunday afternoon but I will be able to check emails occasionally.

Roy,
It just occured to me that maybe you are not clicking a star on the image? The arrow and line will not show up until you click a star in the image window. -Ray Author of PEMPro |

Sorry I have not gotten back to you on this. The weather has been terrible, and I also sent my DSLR off to get modified, so have not even tried to take the scope out.
As for clicking on the star .. really? I did not have to do that on the prior adjustment. I will try that and see whats up. In fact, that would make things easier on the other adjustment as well because sometimes I have no idea what star I am supposed to move to the center of the circle. My camera is on its way back to me, and hopefully there is a break in the clouds this weekend so I can see something. Roy |

Hi Roy,
If you saw the line/arrow/circle I think you had to have clicked the reference image before. Unless you pick a star there is no way for there to be a frame of reference for you to know where the star should be moved. BTW, you can click the reference image as many times as you want to move the line/arrow/circle. -Ray Author of PEMPro |

I don't know if this will help or not, but I had this problem about a year ago. What I discovered, with help from Ray, that it was my screen resolution that was causing it. I am not home right now and I'm working from memory, but I had the DPI set too high - when I changed it back to the 'normal' default, the arrow re-appeared. I have no idea why, but that's what did the trick.
Hope it helps Mike |
