Poor Seeing |
Unfortunately this is my first post here !
I have sent emails to info@ccdare.com from the 7th May I waited patently but without reply, tried again today but this time it bounced error "571 Message Refused" I have tried to send a PM but I dont have access to do this. So I appear to have no other method to receive support other than via a public forum which I think is inappropriate. However here goes Copied and abbreviated version of email sent 7th May ---------------- This one is for the support team ! I received my CCDWare Suite authorisation earlier today and commenced my installation today. The Hardware is a 3 day old HP HDX 18 Intel Quadcore Laptop running 64bit Vista Home Premium, 4gb RAM I have installed all 5 packages as the default Administrator, "As Administrator" and normally. All programs were installed after unzipping where appropriate into their own temporary directories, although initially I did accidentally attempt to install one of them from the archive. A number of complete reboots have been erformed. UAC has been turned off while I am setting up this laptop due to known issues it has had with a number of Atsro packages CCDPilot installed - correctly as far as an initial glance and quick play goes. (no major functional testing able to be done) CCDNavigator installed similarly CCDStack installed similarly Pempro has the following problems when trying to run it after what appears to be a successful installation. "Error initialising classFitsImage : cannot create ActiveX component (this error popup repeats approx 10 times) then RegSvr32 - DllRegisterServer in siUtils2.dll succeeded - this occurs after about 10 seconds delay then Sirius-Imaging's siUtils2.dll is not properly installed . . . PEMPro will now exit" CCDInspector also has problems The initial install proceeds, then alerts that the 64bit Installer should be run, then proceeds with the 64 bit installer and terminates normally and reports a successful install. However, NO executeable file is in fact left on the machine or in the appropriate directory (like it is on my non 64bit) Desktop. There is also no Shortcut created on the Taskbar or CCDWare. No program to run and no shortcut to run it !! After many Uninstalls by using the Vista (Programs and features in the Control Panel) and also via the CCDWare Installer, I attempted to manually copy the CCDInspector executeable across with partial progress but no success I think 32bit Vs 64bit conflicts occur as well and that cfitsio.dll is not there, I copied that file across also and then receive an error message that the CCDInspector licence is invalid. I have exhausted all my own avenues of resolution after many hours of frustration and hope that you can shed some light on the problem. Hope you can help Regards Rally |

Hi Rally,
Sorry but for whatever reason, CCDWare did not receive any of your emails. I have asked Ray (PEMPro) and Paul (CCDinspector) to work with you on your issues. John CCDAutoPilot author |

PEMPro Authority Orbiting around Earth |
Rally,
I suggest you make sure you have the latest Build of PEMPro, which is Build 83. Try removing PEMPro from Add/Remove programs and, just to be sure, reboot Vista. Then reinstall Build 83. You should not need to turn off UAC. If you still have a problem try running PEMPro as an Adminstrator (right click on the PEMPro icon to get to properties and change it from there). To confirm I just ran Build 83 on my Vista 64 system, which has dual quadcore Xeons and 16GB of ram. I ran the calibration wizard and an acquire data without seeing any errors. -Ray Author of PEMPro |

Rally,
For CCDInspector, please try the same suggestions Ray gave you. In particular: 1. Uninstall CCDInspector2 from Windows Control panel 2. Reboot your computer 3. Make sure UAC is turned off 4. Make sure you are logged-in as a user with administrator privileges 5. Install CCDInspector2, and check the installation After installation, please check that the software is shown under Windows Start menu (Programs->CCDWare->CCDInspector 2.1.6) and with icons on Windows desktop. Note that CCDInspector is a 32-bit application and has only a small part that executes in 64-bit. For this reason, it'll be installed in a different folder than other 64-bit applications. While 64-bit applications will install into Program Files folder, CCDInspector2 should be located in Program Files (x86) folder instead. Can you please check that the files are there after the install? Regards, -Paul

Poor Seeing |
John, Ray & Paul,
Thanks for the impeccable service and great followup. I have followed all your advice, downloaded the installation files again and I now have he entire suite installed and perfectly functional and in their correct directories. Without any fuss or trouble this time at all. I am at a loss to explain why my original installation files did not install correctly - after numerous retries using the same process as outlined (except without new downloads_- as far as I know I downloaded all of the files on the 7th May at the same time my licence Keys were issued. It was a new laptop - completely clean from the factory ! I can only think maybe a file corruption had occurred, as CCDInspector was definitely V2.1.6 but maybe I just had the wrong versions ? I didnt think to check the PEMPro version before removal. So once again, Many thanks. Cheers Rally |
