I have been installing software in a new computer. When I installed the CCDNavigator large library I found that CCDN found the objects but did not display the images.

Marshall,
You have to download and install them. They are on the CCDWare "Download" page as "CCDNavigator Plus" files. Instructions for installation are included. Steve... CCDNavigator Author |

Yes, I had already downloaded them. However, after installing the library and doing a search the program finds lots of hits but there are no images displayed in CCDN.

That is, the hits just show an empty black square.

Marshall,
They have to be in the right place, otherwise you'll get black squares. The DSS Cache folder has to be in: My Documents / CCDWare / CCDNavigator / Look there and if there are no images, move them from wherever you have put them to that location. Steve... CCDNavigator Author |

That is exactly where they are. If they weren't there wouldn't I get many fewer hits?

Marshall,
The catalog, not the thumbnail folder, determines how many targets are available and listed for imaging. The Deep Sky Explorer thumbnails are simply retrieved from My Documents / CCDNavigator / DSS Cache so you can see them. I know you're certain they're there but you must not have them placed correctly. For example, if you have DSS Cache inside of DSS Cache, then the thumbnails are not in the folder as expected. Open the path My Documents / CCDNavigator / DSS Cache and see if A01 is the first file name in the list. Take a deep breath when you open this folder because there should be 23,540 thumbnails in it and WinXP will take a while to open the folder. Sometimes, users have installed them under Program Files / CCDNavigator which is the wrong place also. Steve... CCDNavigator Author |

I had loaded CCDNPlus and that is where I put the DSS folder. However, my license is for CCDN which I had loaded as well and was using.

Marshall,
CCDNPlus Pack is just the name for the image collection, your CCDN license is all you need. In WinXP, click on "Start" "Search" "All files and folders" enter "PNG359" for the filename select "My Documents" in the "Look In" selection, and then "Search". Then post here what the search turns up. This will tell us where the DSS Cache is sitting. Repeat the search but use "Profile.cfg" for the file name. This will tell us where CCDNavigator is looking for the files. Perhaps this will help me figure out what is going on there. Steve... CCDNavigator Author |
