Hi Steve,

I'd like to shoot M42 at three different exposures tonight. All in Ha, some at 15sec,60sec and 900sec.

Can you suggest way to build such a plan so I can feed it to CCDAP?

Thank you,
Jonathan

Why not simply bring the target from CCDN into CCDAP, change the series exposures time and go from there?

Because I had other targets I also wanted to pursue and I wanted a plan that allowed to do the most possible. CCDNavigator does that VERY nicely with different targets but not multiple plans of the same target.

Not complaining mind you, just finding other good uses for the tool.

Thanks for listening,
Jonathan

Jonathan,

At present, CCDNavigator only allows a target to appear once in a session plan. Perhaps a future version will allow this. John's suggestion is probably the least awkward work around, especially since they're all Ha but just different durations.

But for more complex situations, you can create a set of plans one at a time. Make the first plan, noting the time it finishes, and save and rename it. Then change your camera settings, create the next plan but override the start time so it begins when the 1st one finished. Save and rename it as well. Make as many versions of the target as you wish.

Hi Steve,

That's essentially what I had to do. It's was all the more awkward because I had set a specific rotation angle and that required me to repeat that for each calculated plan. Then when I load them all into CCDAP, their estimated start/end times didn't match too well (they completed earlier), so CCDAP sat around for a couple of hours needlessly.

The more I use CCDNavigator, the more useful it is becoming and I'm inspired to use it for more things than it was presently designed to do. I understand that. I hope these conversations will influence your considerations for v2 one day.

Thanks for listening (and often doing)!
Jonathan
