Excellent Seeing |
Hi Paul,
A question about using CCDIS. First, this is a great piece of software and it integrates with CCDStack seamlessly... thanks !!!!! Now my question, when aligning a stack of images, sometimes the routine will fail to align one or two and when I look at them, it's hard to determine why the alignment didn't work. Not a big deal since it tells you that one didn't align, however, when I go to that exposure and manually tweak it closer to alignment and then click on the align this button, CCDIS never aligns the repositioned image. To get that one aligned, I have to revert back to Star Snap, select my stars and then click on the align this button on that tab. So does CCDIS retry the alignment after a manual adjustment, or is it a one shot pass, or have I missed a step ? I am using the high precision mode. Thanks,,,,, Additional info .... I just tried the "Reset this" button and then retried "align this" and this time it worked !! So, should we reset each image that might fail to align before trying to realign it a second time? |

Hi Frank,
Unfortunately, CCDIS doesn't see any of the manual alignment changes in the images until you click on one of the Apply buttons. Until then, CCDStack keeps track internally of all of your adjustments, but doesn't modify the image. When you invoke CCDIS after making manual changes, CCDIS will still see the original image unmodified image, without the changes. So, it doesn't really help to try to manually adjust the image before calling CCDIS, unless you click the apply button first to make the changes permanent. Interesting that it had worked after "Reset this" was clicked. Just to clarify the sequence: you had a stack of images, when you tried to align all of them in CCDIS, one failed, right? You then went to the failed image, clicked "Reset This" and then "Align This" in CCDIS tab and it worked? Or am I getting the sequence wrong? By the way, how many images were in the stack, how large the images, what version of Windows are you using (64 or 32 bit), and how much physical memory? I'm working on an update for CCDIS. If you can reproduce this behavior in a consistent way, if it's OK with you, I'd like to ask you to test the updated version to see if it does any better. Thank you, -Paul |

Hi Paul,
Yes, you have the sequence right and sorry for posting to the wrong forum. Answers to your questions: Images in stack - 19 How large - 20MB (STL11K) Version of Windows - Vista Business x64 How much memory - 8GB I'll rerun the stack and let you know if it is reproducible. Thanks..... |

CCDIS is an AMAZING addition to CCDStack. I'm so glad the power of these two programs were merged.
You guys have saved me SO much time in alignment. Thank you!! |
