Poor Seeing |
Before buying CCDInspector, thanks to let me know if CCDI is compatible with a CMOS PL1-M/C camera. This camera is suitable for CCDSoft 5, MaximDL or AstroArt with the appropriate drivers.

Orbiting around Earth |
Hi Ph,
CCDInspector will work directly with any camera supported by CCDSoft and MaximDL that can capture images as 16-bit FITS. It will also work with AstroArt and pretty much any other software, as long as the captured images can be written in FITS/SBIG/TIFF 16-bit format to a specified folder on your hard drive. This is supported through the "Generic Camera Driver" in CCDInspector. I haven't heard of your camera before. Is it an 8-bit or a 16-bit, still or video, monochrome or color? CCDInspector offers a 30-day free trial period, so you can download and test it before buying. All software features will work during the trial period. Give it a try. Regards, -Paul |

Poor Seeing |
Hi Paul,
PL1 camera (M for monocolor B/W or C color) is same as the Orion Starshoot Autoguider. Improved from 8 to 10 bits only, frame 1/2",1280x1024 pixels,5.6 microns,FITS or AVI capture with specific QG video software for deepsky or planets. Suitable drivers for autoguiding with MaximDL, CCDSoft, Guidemaster, PHDguiding, K3ccdtools etc... A CCDI trial version, now expired, was downloaded several monthes ago but not used due to lack of time as well as bad weather period. Is a new download possible and thanks for procedure and comments about compatibility of the PL1 with CCDI. Regards Ph.Dussert |

Hi Ph,
If the camera works with CCDSoft/MaximDL and produces FITS images, it'll work with CCDInspector. 10 bits should be sufficient for proper star sampling. 8 bits will likely not be enough resolution. Please, e-mail me off list: paul [at] pk.darkhorizons.org Regards, -Paul |
