Hi Paul,

when starting CCDI2, I get an error about the program needing to close due to an error and the option to send microsoft the error report. It started this in the past month and I'm not sure what I changed. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software to no effect. What am I missing?

Hi Rex,

Did you install a new version of CCDI before that happened? Can you recall any other new software or software update that you may have applied to this computer?

What version of Windows are you using?

Regards,

-Paul

Paul,

I didn't install new before last month...only updates. I did put in new McAfee Security but that's all. CCDI is the only product not working in the CCDWARE suite. I'm running XP

Rex,

Did you by any chance use Mcafee registry cleanup/optimization tool? That is a very not-recommended thing to do, as it frequently deletes valid registry values, corrupting software as the result. Let me know if you did do this or use any other kind of registry optimization software.

Here's something else to try:

Reboot the computer. Login a administrator.

Uninstall CCDI, then download and install the latest version, 2.1.6 from here:

http://ccdware.com/Files/CCDInspector216.zip

If that doesn't help, try cleaning the CCDI registry (don't do this if you are not comfortable or don't know what Windows registry is):

1. Run regedit.exe

2. Open and click on

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CCDWare\CCDInspector2

3. Make sure this key is selected, and press Del key. Confirm "Yes" if asked if you want to delete it.

4. Then, try starting CCDInspector from the desktop icon.

Let me know if that still doesn't fix it.

Regards,

-Paul

Paul,

I didn't consciously run the cleanup but I did both options that you suggested and still no progress. The same error. The CCDWARE ID box pops ups and then the error. I have the full suite of CCDware and this one is the only issue. I MUST have done something, but it's odd that this is the only program affected.

Rex,

Hard to tell what could have changed. All the software packages published by CCDWare are written by different authors, using different tools and technologies. What breaks one of them may not affect any of the others. In any case, please email me at:

paul [at] pk.darkhorizons.org

I have a few other suggestions to try.

Regards,

-Paul
