Hi,

I'm a new owner of the CCDinspector 2.
I'll collimate my LX200 GPS 12" soon. Is there point to use, lets say, 2X Barlow with collimation tool for better resul?

Hi J-P,

No need for a barlow. Native f/10 is plenty precise for a single defocused star collimator. In fact, you should be able to bin the CCD without a noticeable loss of precision.

If using the multi-star collimator you'll definitely not want to use a barlow, as that will narrow your field of view and reduce number of available stars as the result.

What's more, you'll really want to collimate with the image train already configured to the way you'll be imaging. If you don't plan to use a barlow for an image, don't use one for collimation.

Regards,

-Paul
