I recently upgraded to CCD Inspector 2.1.6 from 1.3 and can not get realtime images to work - the window comes up and is waiting for image - does not appear to be talking to either MaxIM or CCDsoft - are there some configuration or installation not configured?

thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,

If you are using FWHM Monitor, please make sure that you are using the correct configuration window to set the camera control software: click on the icon at the top left corner of the FWHM monitor window, and then select FWHM Monitor Settings... menu.

Check that the correct software is selected as the camera driver, and select it if it's not, then click OK. Then, try again.

If real-time isn't working from either FWHM Monitor or from the main CCDI window, then you may need to re-install CCDInspector and the camera driver software. If running on Windows Vista, first make sure UAC (user account control) feature is turned off in Windows Control panel, and that you are logged in as an administrator on the computer.

If using CCDSoft, make sure that Microsoft's VB run-time is installed as well:

Paul

Appreciate the help - I have set up FWHM monitor and it works fine with MaxIM 5. However, the real-time imaging just waits - like it is not connecting or communicating with MaxIM 5. I am running XP (all up to date) - all my other software (CCDautopilot, navigator, MaxIM, Sky6, focusmax, etc) all work fine. Any other suggestions??

THanks
Jason

Hi Jason,

Sure, I can think of a few more things to check Smiler

  • Check that CCDI menu Real Time->Images to Average is set to 1
  • Don't test with CCDSoft's camera simulator: it doesn't work like a real camera
  • Check that the camera control software under Settings->Camera Control Software menu is set to MaxIm DL
  • Reboot your computer
  • Reinstall CCDInspector 2.1.6

Regards,

-Paul

Paul - I removed both CCDI versions 1 and 2 from my systems, did a reboot. I would recommend you provide a removal tool - I noticed that some CCDI components were not removed via the XP removal process. Any, after some considerable effort I was able to reinstall CCDI 2.1 and that did the trick. Please see my new question in new thread on collimation tool
