Poor Seeing |
OK, while I am on a typing role, can someone help with the way the final save happens.
After splitting my OSC FIT's files, in the R, the G, and the B, I stack etc and then save them as a R or G, or B FITs, and then use Colour/Combine from there. When I save the respective colours the DDP checkbox is always checked. Is this good, does it make any difference, and if it does apart from manually deselecting it, how do I get it not check automatically. This is a follow on from my post of clipping. Gary |

That depends on what kind of "Save": "Save Data" saves the underlying linear data that is unaffected by “adjust Image” display parameters (like DDP). Most of the display parameters are remembered in the FITS header and re-applied when your re-open the image in CCDStack (but not usually understood by other software). But if you open the FITS in Photoshop or other non-astro photo software the image will look very poor because it is linear and not actually scaled. “Save Scaled Data” applies the current “Adjust Image” display parameters (including DDP and sharpening) to the saved data. The data is also scaled to fit into unsigned 16 bit range. A typical use of this method is to save a 16 bit TIFF to input into Photoshop. I suggest that you read (or re-read) the Help Concepts, especially the “Image” section. Stan This message has been edited. Last edited by: Stan, |
