Hi,
I recently tried processing the output files of a Canon 450D which are ~24 Meg bytes. After calibrating and color conversion in Maxim, the file size grows to ~72 Meg bytes each. I can load only 3 files before getting "out of memory" errors. The computer has 4 GB of RAM. Is there a way to get CCDStack (which I think is a wonderful program) to "process from disk" instead of "store everything in RAM"? Thanks. Larry Leitch |

Hi Larry,
Presumably that is 64 bit OS (needed to use 4GB), in which case you should turn off caching and limits via menu "Edit"; "Settings". I can process about a dozen Canon 40D on my 4GB machine with no problems. But for more than that you should monitor the VM consumption because when it exceeds about 3 GB then the OS starts excessive disk paging and things can slow down markedly. So do single color extraction for processing large stacks of large Bayer frames (extract, create and save Red master; clear; extract, create and save Green master...) Stan |

Hi Stan,
My O/S is Windows XP, 32 bit version. I tried to change settings CCD Stack..Edit..Settings to change Cache Threshold etc. I made the changes and clicked Apply. I then brought up the dialog and the changed settings had reverted to their original settings. Something read only? Thanks. Larry |

Hi Larry,
Most of the Settings are applied after closing that session. Exit then re-start to see the new settings. Stan |
