Step 3 fails with CGEM mount with "Telescope not connected - Line: 1"

I am trying to use my CGEM mount with PEMPro.
- I can connect to my mount and also my camera
- When I start the calibration wizard, I can slew the camera
- Step 2 works (mount stops/starts tracking)
- In Step 3, when I select "RELAY X", I get an error message "Telescope not connected - Line: 1"
- And the image that gets taken shows no star trails.

I tried this several times - always with the same outcome. Any ideas welcome!

Hi Mark,

To use the relays you usually have to check the option "Use Autoguider to move scope" on PEMPro's setup tab. Also, the camera and camera control program must support relay movement. For instance, a webcam doesn't usually have a dedicated autoguider cable output but most SBIG cameras do. The webcam thus wouldn't work while the SBIG cameras would.

BTW, are you using AstroArt? I ask because the specific message you are quoting looks like it might be from scripting commands that are built by PEMPro and passed to AstroArt.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for the reply. I could never get this work (I have a Starlight Xpress H694 which has a guider port).
But after I rotated my Camera, I could use the "ASCOM RA" option and now could run through the entire calibration wizard.

It actually might have been working but because of Dec backlash the mount didn't move as far as it should have compared to the case were there isn't any dec backlash.

Ah! That's a good point. I had to set backlash correction to zero (I'm trying out a new version of the CGEM firmware that can't handle (yet) backlash correction).

Thanks!
